31 Mar 07 Yahoo Mail now with unlimited capacity

These are the kind of news that Yahoo users, more than 250 million, are happy to receive :-) . Yahoo has announced officially that in a couple of months, their users will get unlimited storage capacity in their Yahoo mail accounts. Yahoo currently offers 1 gigabyte for its free mail service and 2GB for its premium fee-based service. Google’s free Gmail service offers more than 2.5GB of storage, and Windows Live Hotmail offers 2GB for free, so you can bet that soon both companies will have to do something to catch up with this initiative.

According to John Kremer, vice president of Yahoo Mail: “We are watching the trend lines of how people are using e-mail…and they are sending more photos and videos and rich media” so in fact it is a logical step for all providers to start increasing their mailboxes capacity. If you do not have a Yahoo email, maybe now it is a good time to create an account :-).

28 Mar 07 FlickrCash, search for images on Flickr

I was talking a few days agoabout the new search box for Picassa web. Today, thanks to What’s New I have discovered a very good and powerful search application for photos inside Flickr. It is called FlickrCash and at a first glance it looks pretty interesting. The search is done using a semi-transparent box and the results appear in a mosaic-like page where every image is pointing directly to its source url. It can be really useful for all of us looking for some nice pics in Flickr, the Yahoo service that has millions of photos many of them with an incredible quality and public for everyone to use!.
