31 Oct 07 Good Website Design

I stumbled upon a website today and was struck by its crisp design. It’s a website that deals with Scottsdale real estate. Here’s what I find nice about this website:

  • It has a very blog like look. Its content area is separate from the various announcements, features, etc. (which are on the right sidebar).
  • A simple, un-intrusive top-menu lets you navigate the site.
  • A small, not too loud, flash animation plays pictures of their offerings. I found that I wasn’t distracted by the animation while I was looking at the site.
  • And they have the most common real estate actions right up there in the content section: Buying and Selling.
  • The color scheme is very nice and soothing to the eyes. The blues go well with the browns. Since both are sober colors, it causes the flash animation and other small pictures on the page to stand out nicely.

Overall, a nice crisp design for a website.

05 Jul 07 Flare9, creating a website from scratch

It’s been some time since our last review of interesting applications to help create websites with absolute zero knowledge, from scratch to a nice and good looking personal or professional webpage.

Now, thanks to Sponsored Reviews (this blog profile here :-) , we get the chance to discover a new one that promises to provide even to the most novice user, the possibility to create a professional quality website without having to know any HTML code whatsoever.

We are talking about Flare9, a website builder with an integrated content management system where every page is editable via a simple to use WYSIWYG ( What You See is What You Get ) editor and that will help you provide that very important good image for your business or company on the web ( and we all know how important it is to have a well designed page, don’t you agree? :-), at least I am trying it with this blog , LOL ).

It is actually pretty easy to start the process and make it work, all sum up in a few steps. The sign up of the account will take you only 5 minutes and then you are ready to start building the website. You can select first one of the many themes available for you, and later you can customise according to your preferences. If you do own already a domain you can use it or you can register one via their system, where you have also hosting facilities.

Also, the website packages come with a full set of features that most probably you will be willing to have ( Google Analytics support, management of feeds, integrated blog, control of your meta tags to do some SEO and improve your presence on the net, etc). By getting the whole package here you get the chance to have everything integrated from the beginning. The idea is good, no need to work further to improve the pages you have created, everything comes at once.

So, if you are one of those willing to start your own professional website, with plenty of features and not willing to get a headache in the process, get a look at this service cause it may be interesting for you :-)

14 Jun 07 Capture Express, getting the best captures from the web

People who regularly writes blogs, news, letters, etc, use to need some graphical resources to illustrate what the text is about. Most of the images come today from the internet, and one of the easiest tools to get them in the shape and format you want is Capture Express. Although it is not a free tool ( you have a trial version of 30 days before purchasing it), it is quite straight forward and easy to use. Once installed and configured you just need to push a key on your keyboard ( usually F11, but it can be changed) and the capture screen will appear. You select the area you want to capture, select the format (jpg, gif, bmp, directly to the clipboard, directly to the printer, etc) and it is done. It is actually what I use to get images that I need for this blog, so I can’t say I am not happy with it :-).

13 May 07 ThinkBigsites, and make buzz about your webpage

logo.gifWe have reviewed, in the short but intense life of Review the Market :-), several companies that helped us to improve the way our website looked or the traffic it was getting, but never so far an entreprise we have seen  got as a slogan the promise to design your page on a way that it would create a buzz on the net :-).

We are talking about ThinkBigsites, a website optimization firm that focus in offering to you more website traffic  and  website optimization services to boost your visibility on the net.

On this last point in which I was particularly interested, they offer blog design optimization, SEO, webdesign and hosting, custom webprogramming, link building and even designing newsletters for you to reach potential customers or readers by email.

There is also a Blog marketing section where they work with us on improving and/or giving a more profesional look, to create a plan and strategy for your blog ( which is something I actually did not know was something it had to be done….mmmm…. :-)) or increasing the presence of your business in the blogosphere.

If all that was not enough, we can also get online support in the form of a webmaster to do the maintenance of our pages, or to fix quickly any problem that may arise. In summary, I guess the whole offer sums up as a good and complete package for bloggers like us, that may be passionated about blogging and writting, but sometimes may need some help in the rest of necessary work to keep the blog live and kicking all the time. :-)

21 Abr 07 MarketingMule, plenty of tools for marketers online

# Sponsored Post #. From time to time you find on the net new directories compiling the best of many things: the best sites about movies, the best web 2.0 blogs, the best decoration shops, etc. Now for almost everyone having something to offer via internet, this one, that we have discovered thanks to Sponsored Reviews, could be one of the handiest to keep in your bookmarks.

We are talking about MarketingMule, a directory of internet marketing tools and software with more than 1000 items on their list (not bad really :-)). The site is clean, with a well organised and easy to search database, where you can find almost anything you may be interested or you may need. I am, myself, pretty interested in all those kind of helping-stuff to make this great blog :-) better known on the net ( yes, I know, even more! ;-) ), so going through the categories I found tools for creating rotating banners like Adpeeps,  track ads like Hypertracker,  or analysing my traffic stats with ActiveStats, among many  more.

I guess we can spend the whole day  browsing their archives for cool utilities to improve our website, online shop or blog. And apart from that, you get a full review of each product in a single page, so you can read about it before trying it, which is always good when there are several options. Also, in the home page, you will see an interesting section of updated articles on marketing to get more knowledge on the subject. So not only for professionals, but actually for everyone to improve our marketing capabilities!

19271_optio_w30_3q.jpgIf you are wondering how to take that incredible picture of colourful fishes swiming in the beach just in front of your house :-), well, what about getting a new waterproof camera?. The good news is that PENTAX has announced the latest Optio Waterproof model so there is no excuses now to do it (unless you can’t swim of course or you don’t have a house by the beach… :-) ).

The waterproof design of the Optio W30 meets the JIS Class 8 waterproof standard, enabling it to withstand up to 30 minutes of continuous operation at an underwater depth of up to 2 meters. This camera is the latest model in the PENTAX Optio W series that are capable of underwater photography without requiring a waterproof case or other accessories, which is something I, and many people, really appreciate.

As well as the previous OptioW20, this model features a Blur Reduction High ISO mode that selects ISO up to 1600, and an upgrade to 7.1 effective megapixels to offer improved image quality in a fun, easy-to-handle package.

In summary, it is good product for this coming holidays, so you can enjoy incredible underwater pictures without having to deal with external protection for your brand new gadget.
