There are so many tools out there which allow you to expand your windows XP desktop; they add multiple desktops which allows you to put various windows on different desktops and then simply switch desktops to find your windows. However, I haven’t seen any that even come close to this software when it comes to doing this in style.
DeskSpace is a 3D Virtual Desktop by Otaku Software. It gives you 4 desktops, and the ability to switch them with style. As shown in the picture to the left, the desktops are switched in 3D. You can add different items (icons, windows, etc.) on your various desktops and just switch to the one you need to by a keyboard shortcut (or through a mouse, if that’s your inclination).
When I tried it out, I found it very useful to have 4 functional desktops: I setup one for work windows, another for our browser, a third had our email open, and the last for all the icons on my desktop. One really neat thing about it is that you can simply move Windows between desktops by dragging a window to the side of the screen; it automatically goes into the 3D mode and rotates to the next desktop carrying your window with you.
It has support for multiple monitors. It has a variety of options that let you customize it’s look and feel; allows you to create a shortcut for each desktop, so that you can go directly to that desktop as well.
All in all, a very refreshing approach to the multiple desktop needs of many people. However, it does come at a price of $20 ($19.95 actually). They have a trial version available for download. Go, try it out.
